Alura Etsy Review – Boost Your Etsy Shop With This Etsy Tool
Alura.io is a game-changer for anyone with an Etsy business.
It is far more than just a comprehensive research tool as it assists store owners with everything from keyword research to writing replies to messages and reviews using AI,
Alura makes it easy for sellers to understand what’s selling on Etsy and discover high-demand products to boost their sales. With its user-friendly interface and Chrome extension, Alura’s product research functions are among the best in the business.
But is it all hype? Are the sales figures correct given that Etsy doesn’t share that information via its API.
Want to find out? Read on.
Alura Etsy Tool For Keyword Research
If you want to do keyword research then I’d strongly recommend using eRank or Marmalead. They are the market-leading Etsy Keyword research tools.
However Alura can be used as a keyword tool, it just doesn’t specialize in it in the same way those two tools do.
If one searches for “mountain bike shirt” you get the stats returned below. Whilst the stats are useful they could be better. For example, because the tool gives total views which means you can’t see the monthly search trend.
The Competition figure differs when compared to the data eRank returns for the same query (5,917 compared to 5,678 in eRank). As the numbers are close enough Alura still gives you a solid view of how competitive the term is.
Within eRank you can limit your search to certain countries e.g. the UK. In Alura, you can’t and it doesn’t provide an option to filter based on location either.
If I was looking for a tool solely for keyword research, then Alura would not be it. However, if you’re looking for a tool with a wider functionality set that helps find what products on Etsy are selling well to inform your own product selection, then Alura could be right for you. Read on to find out why
Etsy Product Research
Product research is where Alura really comes into its own with its Product Seeker tool. The app enables you to enter a term and set thresholds of sales and it returns data that shows what products are selling on Etsy based on your query.
You want to sell products that are in demand and that’s exactly what the tool helps you find.
The product finder app enables you to finger on category, location, and many other thresholds as shown below.
Data returned includes:
- Number of Favorites
- Monthly Sales (estimated)
- Total Sales (estimated)
Straight away from this data, you can spot products to investigate further. If you are selling using Print On Demand, the products displayed will give you a quick view of the types of designs that are actually selling.
Analyzing Your Competition
Analyzing your competition and those shops that are doing well is a great way to learn what does and doesn’t work when it comes to selling on the marketplace.
In Shop Analyzer you can enter a store name and get a wealth of information on that shop.
Alura displays overall sales numbers and estimated revenue for the store. It also displays the listings and shows:
- Number of Favourites
- Estimated Monthly Sales
- Total Sales
I ran a test on my store and compared the figures shown by Aulra to my actual sales figures.
Unfortunately, the figures from Alura were a bit off. It overestimated my orders significantly but did well at distinguishing between my top sellers and those that had barely sold.
The data is still useful as long as you don’t treat it as being 100% accurate.
Away from the sales data the tool shows Tags used in the store, a breakdown of the categories the store sells in and a number of other data points that arent overly helpful.

AI is getting everywhere nowadays and it found its way into Alura too. Stuck for on how to reply to a customer message? Alura AI assistant can help. There are three templates set up for Etsy-specific use cases.
- Customer support answers
- Product descriptions
- Review responses
This looks like ChatGPT has been integrated but either way, the output is pretty good. Below is an example of the Review response template.
Including email marketing in your overall marketing strategy is a great idea. Growing an email list helps you take control of your customers instead of leaving all the valuable marketing data in Etsy’s hands.
Alura provides an Email Sender tool that enables you to create an email list that your customers can sign up to. From there you can create automated flows that trigger custom emails to be sent based on your engagement with the customer.
So you won’t need to use tools like Mailchimp for your email marketing, you can do it all in Alura.
No other tool offers this. If you want to take your handmade or vintage business to another level, you should start using this tool and growing your email list and level of engagement with your customers.
Alura Follow-Up Reminder
Followup Reminder is a powerful tool designed for Etsy store owners who want to improve customer relationships and drive repeat sales. With its easy-to-use reminder system, users can send personalized follow-up messages to each customer and never forget to reach out again.
By using smart tags and templates, sellers can craft the perfect message that encourages feedback, expresses appreciation, and fosters loyalty. Sellers can increase their shop’s review rate by up to 114% and improve their SEO, leading to increased visibility and more sales.
The tool also helps sellers stand out from competitors and differentiate themselves by having more reviews.
Additional Alura Resources
Alura Etsy Calculator
Calculating your profit margins when selling on Etsy can be really difficult as Etsy fees aren’t easy to understand. Luckily Alura has a free-to-use Etsy fee calculator,
The calculator isn’t perfect though. If you are a seller from outside of the US, the calculator doesn’t include additional fees you will incur.
Populating your policies is key on Etsy. It gives your store a little boost in search and helps show you mean business.
Top Etsy Sellers
A little gimicy but Alura recently added a Top Sellers Page that does what it says. It shows you the top stores by sales. You can view by category so you can see the top sellers in your catagory.
Not massively helpful but if you want to see successful shops so you can learn from them, this will help with that.
Top Etsy Listings
Similar to the top Etsy Sellers, you can now see the top Etsy listings by category. I’ve used this to give me new niche and new product ideas for my print on demand store.
Compared to EtsyHunt, Alura is significantly more expensive. The follow-up reminder and the AI assistant are nice touches but not sure they make this tool worth paying more 3 times more than EtsyHunt.
Alura offers a free plan that provides access to some of the features and caps your usage at 10 searches in each function.
There is a $29 per month Starter plan is more than sufficient for most users. However, those who have multiple shops will need the Pro plan. The Pro Plan costs $49 per month and offers access to all functionality, you can connect multiple shops and gives unlimited use to search-related functionality.

Etsyhunt and Everbee are two similar tools to Alura.io that offer some of the same functions. It’s worth checking those two tools out as they offer free trials. You may find that you prefer one tool over another due to its UI. EtsyHunt is cheaper than an Alura and a tool I continue to use. Check out our full review here
I strongly recommend either Marmalead or eRank as your main keyword and Etsy SEO tool. The best-selling shops on Etsy will use one of these two tools. They have large databases of data that you can search to find keywords that have the best potential to help give your products the best chance in search.
I’ve tried Marmalead and it’s an awesome tool but I just couldn’t get on with it. I switched to eRank and have used it ever since (3 years+). It’s cheap and has helped me find new niches, products, and great keywords to help optimize my listings.
If your store isn’t overly profitable yet you may want to find free tools to find keyword ideas for your products or for ideas for new products.
- Etsy Search: Etsy’s own search engine is a great way to find products that are similar to your own. You can search by keyword, category, and price.
- Google Search: Google Search is another great way to find products that are similar to your own. You can use the same search parameters as you would with Etsy Search.
- Amazon Search: Amazon Search is a great way to find products that are similar to your own. You can search by keyword, category, and price.
- Pinterest: Pinterest is a great way to find inspiration for your own products. You can search for products by keyword, category, and price.
- Instagram: Instagram is a great way to connect with potential customers. You can share photos of your products and use hashtags to help people find your shop.
These are just a few of the many Alura alternatives that are available. By using these tools, you can find products that are similar to your own, connect with potential customers, and increase sales.
Tips to Find the Right Keywords for Your Etsy Listings
When finding keywords for your Etsy listings, it’s important to keep in mind the following tips:
- Use relevant keywords: Use keywords that are relevant to your products.
- Use high-volume keywords: Use keywords that have a high search volume.
- Use long-tail keywords: Use long-tail keywords that are less competitive.
- Use negative keywords: Use negative keywords to exclude irrelevant keywords from your listings.
My Experience With Alura
I love a good chrome extension as it allows you to use Alura whilst doing research on Etsy. A simple click and you get lots of additional information that helped me decide whether a niche or product was worth researching more or not.
I found the Follow-Up tool really useful in tracking who I had followed up with. You can set it up so it only reminds you after the order is dispatched + so many days. That way you can be sure the customer has received the item. It increased my order-to-review ratio and repeat customers too.
I’ve implemented the email sender and found that to be a great addition to Alura. Being able to have and manage a mailing list using a tool that integrates with Etsy feels like a no-brainer.
I continue to use the tool alongside eRank as together they give me all the functionality I need.
In this Alura review, I’ve given a warts and all view of the tool. Is it the best Etsy keyword tool out there? No, For me that remains eRank. However, I think Alura can work really well alongside eRank.
Alura provides estimated sales data, that whilst not 100% accurate still gives you a good indication of what is selling well and what isn’t. That can be extremely reassuring when deciding whether to pursue a new niche or product idea.
The additional tools like the follow-up reminders, AI assistant, and email sender make it easier to run your shop and grow your revenue.
Overall using Alura alongside either eRank or Marmalead in my mind, is the best way forward. Alura brings a lot to the party but doesn’t have the keyword data that eRank or Marmalead provide.
How Does Alura Know the Number Of Sales On Etsy
Alura analyses various data, such as views and favorites, to approximate a listing’s total and monthly sales. According to Alura, the estimated sales have an approximately 80% accuracy rate.
Comparing Alura data to my own sales figures I find this to be about right.
While its not 100% accurate the estimated sales figures are invaluable and give insights that are difficult to obtain elsewhere. By using this tool, you can make more informed decisions and avoid wasting effort in areas that are not as significant.
Best Way To Use Alura Chrome Extension
The best way to use the Alura extension is to search for competing items and note the number of monthly sales and their prices. This information will help you predict how well your item will sell and in what rank. Also, check the low-competition items which will make it easier for you to get higher sales. By using Alura, you can discover the best products to sell and price them accordingly, leading to increased sales for your Etsy shop. Don’t forget to click the Alura icon while searching for products in the Etsy marketplace to make the most of its useful features.
